We traveled 4.5 hours down south this weekend to see the Boseong Green Tea Fields. It has been on our list of things to do while in Korea. We decided to wait until it was warmer to venture down there. It was so nice to get out of the city and enjoy some of Korea's best known green tea and walk through the blooming foliage. Unfortunately, they had just cultivated the tea leaves a week or so before we got there so it wasn't as green as what it normally is...but it was still very pretty!
We arrived Friday evening around 9pm and walked/took a cab (15 Won later)/ and walked some more only to find that our hotel was literally right behind the bus station where we had gotten dropped off at. It was an interesting contrast coming from Seoul where you can find plenty of English speakers to being in a rural town where no one spoke a lick of English. We quickly realized how much we have relied on our Korean friends (and western friends who have taken the time to learn Korean) for the past 9 months. It was a good cultural experience! We hurried back to Seoul Saturday evening so as to be back in time for the race on Sunday (next post!)

ReplyDeleteso beautiful! it reminds me of the tea fields we visited in india, except way more organized :) and, i'm not sure what "ajumma" means, but it looks like johnny's harem to me :)
ReplyDeletehaha :) ajumma is the word for older woman in Korea. They have quite an influence here! They are known for their fashion, pushing, judgmental stares (or the complete opposite...) some will snuggle up close to you and offer you candy. They are quite unpredictable. But they hold a lot of power in the community...as they've earned it!
